Calathea Ornata, or Pinstripe Prayer Plant, is a striking tropical plant. It has oval dark green leaves with gorgeous bright pink pinstripes. The underside of the leaves has a unique dark red-maroon color, making it one of the most colorful and beautiful members of the Calathea family.

As a prayer plant, Ornata belongs to the Marantaceae family. It folds it leaves up during the night, which resembles praying hands. This plant is also great at purifying the indoor air and removing air pollutants. Ornata is rarer than most Calathea varieties.

Pinstripe Prayer Plant produces small orange flowers, packed around small inflorescence stems.
Calathea Ornata tolerates different lighting conditions, including medium to low-light spots. Its ideal lighting is bright, indirect light but it can also grow in partial shade. Avoid harsh direct sunlight to prevent sunburn.

This plant needs regular watering to keep its soil slightly moist. Check the soil twice a week and water when the first 2 inches of the top soil is dry.

This plant needs well-drained, nutrient-rich soils that are able to retain some moisture. Choose a peat-rich potting mixture.

This plant thrives in temperatures of 65°F-85°F and grows well in normal room conditions. It does not do well when the temperature drops below 50°F. Do not place this plant near venting systems or air-conditioners. This tropical plant needs a humidity level of at least 50%, so you should use a humidifier and mist your plant often when your indoor environment is dry.

This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer. You can also feat this plant with a slow-release fertilizer once or twice per year.

Ornata is considered non-toxic and safe for pets.

Your plant will be carefully wrapped in a sturdy box. If your plant comes with a clay pot, it will be meticulously bubble wrapped as well. There will be wooden stakes positioned in the soil to support the plant and keep it secured during shipping. When opening your package, some soil may be loose in the box. When you purchase online, your plants have to go through lots of stress while traveling so they may need a few days to adjust to their new environment and thrive. If your plant does not perk back up after a few days of care, let us know and we will send replacements free of charge. Remember that we always try our best to accommodate you.
It’s advised that you should repot the plant as soon as you get it. After repotting, your new houseplant will most likely struggle with transplant shock. It may appear droopy, faded, or have a slower growth rate than usual during this time. This is completely normal, and it’s also normal for transplant shock to hit especially hard after repotting a brand-new houseplant. To make sure your plant has plenty of time to adjust to its new surroundings, wait a day after potting and water your plant. Make sure any excess water drains completely from the pot afterward. Monitor your soil’s moisture levels daily to start creating a watering routine. To help perk up your new houseplant, we recommend adding a little water-soluble fertilizer, compost, or sugar water to your soil to boost its nutrients and help it grow.

Beautiful Plant

It arrived safe with the packaging. No broken leaves or anything. Nice color and health. I loved the acclimating guide on the box and also the sheet on how best to take care of it. Hopefully i can keep her healthy. I'll be ordering from yuns again!
