  •   Peperomia Golden Gate, or Peperomia Obtusifoliaone or Baby Rubber plant, is a wonderful houseplant for beginners, as it is resilient and very easy to care for. Golden Gate is a bushy plant with thick red stems and waxy leaves in emerald green and golden yellow.

Native to Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean, this is a slow-growing plant and can reach up to 12 inches. Despite its small size, Peperomia Golden Gate scores a spot on the top list of air-purifying houseplants, as it is very effective in cleaning indoor air.

Its compact, upright-spreading nature and low light demand make it perfect for indoor and shady spots. Peperomia obtusifolia is a perfect adornment for any decor style.

Golden Gate blooms spikes of white flowers during the growing season (Spring/Summer).

  • Peperomias prefer moderate light conditions, can grow in shady places, and do well under fluorescent lights. Avoid scorching direct sunlight.

This plant is mildly drought-tolerant and needs watering once a week in the summer. Water less in the winter (once every 10-14 days). Do not water the foliage.

This plant loves well-drained, porous potting soil that can retain some moisture.

Ideal temperature: 60 to 75 °F( 16 to 24 °C). Save the plant from cold winds, drifts, and temperatures below 50 °F(10 °C). Peperomia enjoys raised humidity levels but most of the time it does just fine in normal household conditions.

Fertilize once a month with diluted general houseplant fertilizer in spring and summer.

    This plant is non-toxic.

When you purchase online, your plants have to go through lots of stress while traveling so they may need a few days to adjust to their new environment and thrive. If your plant does not perk back up after a few days of care, let us know and we will send replacements free of charge. Remember that we always try our best to accommodate you.
  • It’s advised that you should repot the plant as soon as you get it. After repotting, your new houseplant will most likely struggle with transplant shock. It may appear droopy, faded, or have a slower growth rate than usual during this time. This is completely normal, and it’s also normal for transplant shock to hit especially hard after repotting a brand-new houseplant. To make sure your plant has plenty of time to adjust to its new surroundings, wait a day after potting and water your plant. Make sure any excess water drains completely from the pot afterward. Monitor your soil’s moisture levels daily to start creating a watering routine. To help perk up your new houseplant, we recommend adding a little water-soluble fertilizer, compost, or sugar water to your soil to boost its nutrients and help it grow.
